Bill – is a father of four and married to a loving and supportive wife. Their son Cole was born with minimal functionality in only one kidney and was not expected to survive the night. One year later, by the grace of God and the skill of the doctors at U of M, Cole was given a chance at life. All he needed was a new kidney. Through the miracle of organ donation and the generosity of his living donor and godfather, Scott Schumacher, Cole received the gift of life on Nov. 20th 2006. Bill took up long distance cycling in 2008 to raise money for organizations like the Jimmy Fund and Make-A-Wish. In 2009 he started competing in triathlons and has now joined with Tri-For-Life to raise awareness for organ donation.

Jerry - is a father of four and works as an engineer and also a kidney transplant recipient. Jerry started doing triathlons in the early 80’s. The triathlon was a natural fit for him, he picked swimming as a youth and competed at various levels. He also learned to bike as a youth by riding a bike 40 miles a day to and from work as a lifeguard. Lastly running he picked up while serving in the United States Marine Corps for five years.
Jerry was diagnosed with kidney disease and eventually renal failure, he received a kidney from his sister Julie in October of 2004. He dedicates all of his races to his sister Julie who not only impacted his life with her gift, but also impacted his family, friends and co-workers. Jerry is looking forward to demonstrating the success of organ transplant as well as increasing public awareness of donor registry.
